As most readers would be aware, I have a bit more spare time at the moment than I’ve had for many a year, so I am trying to take the chance to do a few fun things that I have let slide. One of those things is having a go at doing a weekly shift on local community radio station 4ZZZ. I used to do this through the 1980s, but let it go in the early 90s as political life got more of a grip on my time. ZZZ has changed a bit in that time (so have I probably), but they still have a strong commitment to playing local Brisbane bands which I think is very important. So this morning I did my first shift for about 18 years. I was a bit rusty on the equipment and had a sore throat, which didn’t help, but it was good to immerse in playing around with music again (the playlist is here). If you live in Brisbane, feel free to tune in on Thursday mornings from 6-9 am, at 102.1 on the FM dial. I might even play a request for you (if it fits into the rigorously high standards of musical excellence required on the program) (and especially if you subscribe to the station).
